Our location is a walker’s dream and you will be able to access the award winning historic downtown antique stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafe’s, coffee shops, wine tasting rooms, museums, movie and performing arts theaters, Crack the Code Escape Room, etc. all in just a few minutes’ stroll. Keith timed a walk to The American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse (which is less than 500 feet from the house) at just a 1 minute and 40 seconds from door to door and Kati clocked the exact same time walking to the Visitor Center. There are a couple of moderate hills to consider as you walk.
Don’t really want to walk all around Staunton? No Problem! The Staunton Downtown Trolley offers a fun way to explore the city of Staunton with no worries about parking, directions, or getting lost! It includes stops at the Amtrak Station, The Wharf Historic District, The downtown Visitor’s Center, The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum, Rite Aid, and our beautiful Gypsy Hill Park, among many other stops . The trolley makes a continuous 30 minute loop around downtown and you can get on and off where you like. Best of all, the quaint Trolley will pick you up right in front of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel (only one block from our house), and for only 25 cents per ride, you can ride all over our beautiful downtown district! Trolleys follow the Staunton City school bus policies for delays or cancellations for inclement weather.
For public transportation to a broader area of Staunton, including the YMCA, the Frontier Cultural Museum, Walmart, grocery stores, etc, and for other areas including Blue Ridge Community College, Waynesboro and Stuart’s Draft, you can also access the Brite Bus system.
And for those with cars, there is plenty of street parking around Staunton, some metered and some not, and a couple of public paid parking lots. It is easy to get around, but there are quite a few one way streets downtown, and several intersections where you can not turn on a red light, so just be mindful when driving.
A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BOOKING THE COWBOY SUITE:
We are a 100% Non-Smoking/Vaping and Pet Free property. Smoking/Vaping is not allowed anywhere on our property at all, inside or out. And out of consideration to our guests with pet allergies, we do not accept pets of any kind. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
It is also important to remember that this is a multi-unit building, not a single family home and as such, there are 4 other beautifully renovated Airbnb apartments in our perfectly situated downtown Staunton location. We ask that all of our guests respect the space and be courteous of others. Please also know that although we took extra measures to install special sound proof ceilings throughout all our beautiful apartments when we renovated, you may have neighbors above or beside you visiting at the same time as you, and as with any multi-unit spaces, you may still hear the comings and goings of other guests from time to time.
Also, while there is always ample parking on our street, and even directly in front of our house, it is not reserved parking and you may find that you need to park a few houses farther down. This is common all over our city. We will have a parking pass waiting for you in your unit which you must use as the parking on our street is posted at 2hrs only without it. **PLEASE LEAVE THE PARKING PASSES** as Staunton will not Re-Issue parking passes to us if lost. If you have a SMALL car and choose to park in the small parking lot we just added in the back of the house, after parking your car, you will need to walk up a slight incline back up to the front of the house to access your apartment. Please be careful as the driveway is very narrow beside the house to the parking area. Unfortunately, because of the narrowness of the driveway and the limited turnaround space in our lot, no large vehicles will be able to park there. We recommend parking in front if possible.
It is usually the most convenient option for our guests.
We want all guests to have the most ideal stay possible, so if you find that you need accommodations that allow for smoking or pets anywhere inside or outside of the property, if you prefer a single family home where there is no risk of hearing your neighbors from time to time, or if you are not comfortable walking a short distance from your car to the house, then our property may not be the best fit for you.

1. Ring camera is monitoring and capturing live video and audio the front door entrance.
2. Ring camera is monitoring and capturing live video and audio the back parking area.
