The Nest is an excellent lodging option for whatever brings you to the Shenandoah Valley region.
Need a quiet respite? Relax into The Nest’s mid-century modern décor for a luxurious getaway. Snuggle up on the roomy living room sectional and chill with movies/shows on the 65″ smart tv (Espn+ Hulu, Disney +, and Netflix included). Make a quiet meal in the fully equipped kitchen (or order in from one of the splendid local restaurants!), pour a glass of our complimentary wine, enjoy your meal in the large dining room area, and then take a lovely shower/soak with the top-notch toiletries and towels selected just for our guests. Don’t forget to partake of the luxury truffles left on your pillow before you sink into the green tea-infused king-size mattress in the master bedroom (or queen beds in 2nd bedroom and living room pull-out, replete with memory foam mattresses) for some bedtime reading or more binge-watching (bedrooms have 40″ smart Tvs) as you drift off to a restful slumber!
Wake up to a morning brew at the fantastic coffee bar stocked with a complimentary assortment of coffees, teas, creams, sugars, honey sticks, Pop Tarts, Bischoff cookies, Nature Valley granola bars, a Keurig, tea kettles, and a glass coffee pour-over set.
Visiting for work or need to keep up while on vacay? There’s a full office set up with desk, desktop screen, and all that is needed to ” plug in and work.” Plus, the internet at The Nest is lighting fast!
In town to explore? All the amenities of Staunton’s celebrated downtown are just a few blocks away and many Shenandoah Valley attractions like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and Shenandoah National Park are within an uncongested, short drive! After your adventures, meander downtown for drinks and a special meal, visit a gallery or do a little window-shopping, take an evening stroll in the park (there are free concerts in the summer), or simply kick back in The Nest for an evening in.

This location is a walker’s dream, Our very popular Gypsy Hill Park with Duck Pond is only a block away and a beautiful place for a picnic. Downtown Staunton is 1.3 miles away where you will be able to access the award-winning, historic downtown that is filled with antique stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, wine tasting rooms, museums, movie and performing arts theaters, The American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse, Crack the Code Escape Room, and lots more within just a few blocks. There are moderate hills to consider as you walk.
Don’t really want to walk all around Staunton? No Problem! The Staunton Downtown Trolley offers a fun way to explore the city of Staunton with no worries about parking, directions, or getting lost! It includes stops at the Amtrak Station, Wharf Historic District, downtown Visitor’s Center, Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum, Rite Aid, and our beautiful Gypsy Hill Park, among many other stops. The trolley makes a continuous 30-minute loop around downtown and you can get on and off where you like. And it’s only 25 cents per ride! Follow the Staunton City school bus policies for delays or cancellations for inclement weather.
For public transportation to a broader area of Staunton, including the ymca, the Frontier Cultural Museum, Walmart, grocery stores, etc, and for other areas including Blue Ridge Community College, Waynesboro, and Stuarts Draft, you can also access the Brite Bus system.
And for those with cars, there is plenty of street parking around Staunton, some metered and some not, and a couple of paid public parking lots. It is easy to get around, but there are quite a few one-way streets downtown, and several intersections where you cannot turn on a red light, so just be mindful when driving.
A few important things to note:
We are a 100% Non-Smoking/Vaping and Pet Free property. Smoking/Vaping is not allowed anywhere on our property at all, inside or out. And out of consideration to our guests with pet allergies, we do not accept pets of any kind. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
This is an upper-level duplex apartment in a lovely Staunton neighborhood with free street parking directly in front of the home. It is important to note that there are a moderate number of stairs to climb to get to the apartment.
We want all guests to have the most ideal stay possible, so if you find that you need accommodations that allow for smoking or pets anywhere inside or outside of the property, if you prefer a single family home where there is no risk of hearing your neighbors from time to time, or if you are not comfortable with climbing stairs or walking a short distance from your car to the house, then our property may not be the best fit for you.

Please note: SMOKING/VAPING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ANYWHERE IN/ON OUR PROPERTY. Guests who violate our Smoke/Vape Free policy will forfeit their security deposit and will be charged an additional fee of $300 for professional air treatment and de- odorizing linens, furniture, and drapes in the unit.
Quiet Times:
As with any multi-unit building, it is important to be mindful that there are tenants potentially, below you. While it is reasonable to hear mild evidence of our lower tenants’ comings and goings from time to time, please be respectful of others and keep television, music, and voice volumes at an appropriate level as well as any physical activity. If someone is being inappropriately loud, please contact us. Thank you for your considerate understanding.
Strict “Quiet Times” are between 10 pm and 8 am.
